Wanting to black-out the tail & headlights on my 250 not sure weather to use VHT Nightshades or vinyl tint. Does anyone have experience with either product or what method did you use that worked well?
I believe it's illegal to do something like that to your headlight in my state.
You can't even add a light color tint. Anything that alters the color or brightness of the headlight is verbotten.
As far as i know its not illegal as long as the light is visible from 1,000 ft but im really not too concerned with legality i know a few people who have done this to their cars and havnt ever had an issue with the law
I didnt post this to hear everyones opinions on why they dont think i should do this. Just would like to see if anyone has expierience with these products. So unless you have something to offer to this thread dont post.
I have reflective tape on my rims and plan on adding more to other areas of the bike. Im not making the lights so dark that light will not go thru them. Just tinting the lenses so when the bike is off it has that blacked out look. At night this will hardly affect my visability to others

Of those two products, definitely the first, Nightshades. That vinyl tint is 50% which is a lot. Way too much. At least with the spray can you can apply it in thin coats until it is to your liking without going too dark. It's your bike, do what you want...just don't expect others not to post their opinion on it when you ask about it in a public forum.
You don't REALLY want to tint it so dark that the lights are affected, right? Just so that it looks dark when the power's off and it's parked?
Your best bet would probably be to talk to a shop that does tinting, because from what I've read so far, the spray cans are easy to screw up/overdo. If you really wanted it to look nice, without over-tinting it, get it done by someone who knows what they're doing.
Some call it modding, others refer to it as personalizing. To argue about a difference in taste or preference is pretty pointless. Why can't we all just get along... If it is illegal then the information is very useful and the person can know the possible outcome of their actions. But whether someone is a new rider or not perhaps they are just enamored with riding, help where you can but please don't post negative comments.

I didnt indent to create so much controversy over this thread, perhaps my title was misleeding i dont want the tint to be very dark at all. Just enought so that when the bike is off they have that smoked look that you can find on the hotbodies flush mount turn signals. Being that i am a new rider i am in no way interested in increasing my chance of danger which is why i came to the forum for some tips before i bought a can of nightshades and started spraying away. Ill admit having just got my bike i am very eager to "mod" and personalize my bike but i dont see why thats a bad thing. I appreciate all the posts on this thread weather they are posative or not ive taken a lot of them into consideration and im not certain this is something i still want to do to my bike or not
Don't take it to heart, I could have misunderstood a part of his post or someone could have read too much into mine. Text loses inflection and tone so it can be difficult to derive an exact meaning. Don't hesitate to ask questions, these guys are a great source of info. If you find yourself possibly disagreeing with their advice, take an objective view of the whole situation. We are all susceptible to getting to caught in the moment to see the whole picture. Take care and be safe!
When you post something and ask for an opinion, don't get upset from the opinions that you don't like. People are genuinely trying to help you from making a mistake. Listen to both sides of the story, and then decide for yourself if what you want to do is a good idea, or not. Personally, I think that decreasing the effectiveness of your lights is not a good idea, even a light tint makes quite a difference to your visibility and the effectiveness of your headlight to illuminate the road in front of you. I'd rather have my lights work properly, than look "cool".
Yes. It might seem daunting when you see all the parts but it is a pretty straight forward process. If you run into trouble there are a few guys here , myself included, who can talk you through. I'm just getting a few pictures together to fill in the gaps on where to run the wiring and placement of the relays and ballast.
I installed the "dark smoke" one on mine a long time ago. I cut it off to make it look as a dual headlight but to be honest is hard to tell if there's something there. Thus, it is FAR FAR away from blacking the headlight out or make you less visible whatsoever.
There are lots of people ready to tell you how stupid is what you intend to do, and just a few really knowing what they're talking about. Go ahead BRO. It´s your money and your bike
I think its a great idea got the smoked integrated taillight and smoked blinkers just do wgat makes u happy and if u try something that works lemme know
