Been registered on here for ages but never posted since I didn't ended up getting a 250. I did however, finally step up and get a 300F a few months ago. I'm registered on the 300 forum but figured I'd dust off this old account since the two bikes are so similar it might be handy once in a while.
I had to look up Hurst. Y'all are right near each other, and about 50 miles from me. Not a huge issue when you love to ride and get over 60 mpg. Those 300s the either f or r flavors look real sharp. I was eyeballing them at the Honda dealer I took my msf at. I would be very interested in seeing one in motion. I also wonder how you like the nekkid bike on the highway.
You're not too terribly far. I've ridden that way a few times, and downtown Dallas quite a bit at night as it's a ghost town and very peaceful. I had my heart set on a 250 for a very long time, and just never got the opportunity with tuition and the like. Finally graduated and then the 300 came out so I said, why not. I've been very pleased with it's performance, does everything well and is forgiving enough for a new rider like myself. Haven't done a done of highway miles on it, but it can handle it and it's not too uncomfortable without the fairing.
@Shoshin, I was always surprised they split the two as well. The 250 forum has built quite the following and it hasn't translated over to the 300 yet as you know its still very quite over there.
i dont know about 'quiet', sometimes its way more active
than 250r forum..
they are only a click away anyway,
so i continue the habit of visiting 250
into visiting 300 forum as part of
my morning routine, incl moderating
a small martial arts site and checking
emails and downloads etc..
its like a family which has expanded
and now some live next door..
I flick between the two forums as well but find I only have time to keep up fully with the 300 site.
At times the 300 site can be the busier of the two but both have their days.
You would expect the 250 forum to be the busier of the two with 17K members (vs 2K on 300 site) but I guess there are a lot of inactive members on here.
I'm thinking that because there is far more content here on the 250 site has something to do with it. Have you noticed that many of the tech questions/issues that come up on the 300 site are the same ones that have been asked and answered dozens of times here?
If the 300 site seems busier at times, it's only because of a handful of members who are posting regularly... and lets face it, much of what is being posted on the 300 site day after day is so much fluff. IMO, the 300 site has a long way to go compared to this site in terms of 'quality' motorcycle content. It's just how it is.
I'm sure the 300 forum will get going eventually once more and more people get them. Like you said Mike, lots of fluff there which is fine, just a lot more history and experience here on the 250 boards. That's funny to hear about MeeLee on the 250 Rebel forums. No surprise, he's definitely a bit of a...umm...I think Kiwi got it right; a "character" How many alias accounts do you have on here Mike? :wink2:
you get attention seeking wannabe's on
my martial arts site as well, often frequenting
other ma sites with the same opinions on
what works, how black belts are useless [etc]..
sometimes sparking humorous responses
and even genuine member discourse etc,
but nevertheless still a bloody nuisance
especially considering novices and others,
potential members etc, seeking genuine
information and advice..
probably a symptom of open inet forums,
like stupid drivers and potholes etc..
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
