Just bought a used 250 and was about to swap out pads. I got some FA388HH and when I went to put them in, they didn't fit.... they were too large. Any suggestions? Nissin calipers... is it possible that the PO switch calipers? Not sure why they would do that but these do not fit.
Thanks. Did that and I have some 226's on the way. I guess abs take the larger pads..I was thrown off by the abs sticker on the bike. Guy must have changed plastics
Er...does that mean you don't know whether your bike has ABS or not?
ABS bikes have a sensor ring near the hubs of the wheels.
ABS bikes also have three lines going to the front brake (brake line, ABS sensor and rear brake line as it is a combined brake system where the rear brake also activates one of the front brake pistons).
*Edit*
Why is the picture so tiny???? It should be 640x480....
Er... It means I bought bike and went by what guy told me and what the plastics say. Didn't think about it until pads didn't fit. Noticed there wasn't any additional sensors on the caliper and realized that perhaps the bike is lacking abs.
Amazon (I used to use dedicated motorcycle retailers but they have everything) has the pass as being the same across both bikes. Came on here hoping for quick response because the EBC online catalog is pain in the neck to find what you're looking for. Also emailed EBC and they got back to me first.
Then the guy scammed you. The ABS version is 500$ more expensive than the non ABS version. So you likely paid extra for something the bike doesn't have.
What's even worse is that the guy is putting your life and health in danger by telling you that the bike has ABS while it hasn't.
If you try to do an emergency stop and rely on having ABS you could easily lock up the front wheel and we all know how that ends.
Maybe you should report the bastard to the police if you have any evidence like witnesses.
I kind of doubt most people would go to the trouble of buying ABS decals for the front fender of a non-ABS bike in an effort to deceive an unsuspecting buyer. Anything is possible though.
Sounds like one of the previous owners simply had a busted front fender and ordered the new fender using the P/N for the ABS version* by mistake. Or maybe the PO just got a used fender off of ebay... either way the fenders themselves are identical.
* FWIW, Honda supplies all replacement body parts with whatever factory decals were on the original part, which would explain the ABS decals.
I bought it for $1850 w/ clean title and it's going to be pure track bike. Either way I'm comfortable with that price.
I thought was non-abs when buying but then saw sticker. I don't think guy I bought from knew. I'm third owner. I'm not super concerned about it, just needed pads.

You should be good then. Most racers don't want ABS on the track anyway.
Check out tech articles by Ari Henning on Motorcyclist.com about his track CBR250R. There are also some older threads here by Aufitt that might give you some tips about set-up.
Even though you originally started this thread, that it is specifically about a brake pad question means it should be kept to that topic. If you have questions or info about an unrelated topic or subject, you should post that in a new thread.
