Default iPhone charger?

I just purchased a Sena smh10 Bluetooth kit. My question is... Is there a way to hook up my iPhone to the battery so I can go long distances using the iPhone GPS directions without it draining the phone battery? I'm sure it exists, just don't know how to find it, thanks!

$10 at walmart gets you a weatherproof 12v outlet. Another $5 gets you the wire and crimps you need to connect it to the battery. 15 minutes and you're done. To be extra safe you can put an inline fuse in if you want, but I haven't found that necessary.

Thanks, it it difficult to do? Should I have a shop do the wiring or is this something a novice can get done?

Try this, it skips the need for a cigarette lighter and USB adaptor. Simple enough to wire in and then mount on the bars:

BurnsMoto - Motorcycle, ATV, Boat, RV - USB Weatherproof Power Socket - USB Charger with optional SAE to USB

Regards,

Dave

I was thinking of using a phone as a GPS as well but thought that the screen would be too hard to see in the sun. Is this a problem with the iPhones?

I know they make mounts, and I'm sure you can find a glare reducing screen protector, but I'm intending on just listening to the directions as that's what I do in the car anyways.

It's extremely easy to do. Just wire it directly to the battery terminals and run the wires inside the fairing to conceal them. Took all of 15 minutes to do.

My mate uses his iPhone4s with a RAM mount and it seems to work a treat, we never get lost when he is leading .

That's probably what I'll do, is there any drilling or permanent body modification involved? I'm not looking for a suction cup or anything like that just hoping to be able to return the bike to stock at some point (or at least have the option to)
