Default Making the 250r more enjoyable.

Hello everyone,

I've just clocked 5500 miles on the 250r today, and I've been considering making a few upgrades to my bike.

I was wondering if any one had done any upgrades that they really liked and would recommend? My bike is completely stock.

Thanks!

replaced stock horn with a 'fiamm low tone'
which is louder but also a deeper tone
than the beep beep original, sounding
a bit more 'like a buick' than a toy..

its only a bit louder perhaps but
has had a good response from
brain dead cagers driving
into my lane, etc..
easy install, $10 from amazon..
plug and play, no relay,
onto existing bracket..

installed yoshimura rear set plate kit,
which moves footpegs back 45mm up 30mm
[optional up 45] which for me, allows better
ergonomics generally and better foot
position specifically..
easy install, quality, fit, match
my black bike, $80..

everything on a honda will work,
but there will always be alternatives
that might suit an individual better,
or their particular use of the bike..
it comes down to $ for manufacturers
and of course for us as well..

enjoy your excellent honda motorcycle,
and dont forget to upgrade its
new owners skills as well

I would say for more comfort Corbin seat, little pricey but will make the long rides more enjoyable.

Exhaust - 2 bros Nice grumble sound in it.
ECU - many to choose from all get about the same results
Frame sliders - you never know
New tires - Not that the stock are bad
Foam grips - Helps with vibration
Rear set - better ergonomics (as mentioned above)

A lot will depend on you and your budget, you can go from mild to wild. I chose the wild side for mine, but what I did isnt for everybody.

I really like the Yosh rearset brackets, too - in the same position as noted above.
The foam grip covers make all the difference, too.
My Butt Buffer gel pad falls in that same category. I already had it, so it was just a matter of putting it on the bike. I won't ride without it now.

I will second the Fiamm horns, but I strongly recommend using both the high and low tone horns. Mounting them can be a challenge, but you will be SO proud of your handy work when you are finished with horns that will scare the crap out of cagers.

Hyperlites if you want to protect your six.

Upgrade the rider first by doing some track days or advanced rider training courses.

you will enjoy the cbr250 and every bike you ever own in the future 10 billion times better.

Rider training was the best accessory I've ever bought for my motorcycle. I am planning a refresher course next Spring. It's only been about 30 years since my last class! lol!

Track days would be great, but I've never participated, so I don't know how to go about breaking that ice.

You can't go wrong with a 13T front sprocket, and a SpeedoDRD to correct the speedometer/odometer.

Check out Putnam Park's website in the spring to see which org's are running track days, then go to their site to sign up and see what you have to do to get the bike ready (not much). Fun track and maybe 30 minutes from Indy. After you're hooked, try Grattan and Mid Ohio.

Darn, you can only thank once.

How do you know about the area tracks, racerrrrx? Are you nearby?
I see Indpls. Raceway Park (Lucas Oil Raceway) in Clermont has no track days. It doesn't look like they even use their road course any more.

Our local BMW club did corner working there for WERA races back in the 80's. That is as close as I've had my bike to a track (we got to ride a lap ).

That Putnam Park looks real nice, especially if you have a bunch of money! I'm afraid that is not the lifestyle I lead. I can see getting a couple of days in every summer though. Kevlar mesh is unacceptable? I see some of the clubs rent leathers. That doesn't sound especially attractive...

I agree 100% that upgrading the rider is the best option to enjoy a bike more, but I'm already a very competent rider..

I race at National level, and I'm currently signed to a race team for the next two years. Thank you for the advice though!

I'm considering trading in for the Kawasaki 300, I've been offered a very good deal from a sponsor and I might take them up on the offer. What does everyone think of the 300?
