Bought my CBR250r from a local Honda dealership a few months ago, brand new. I've been using it mainly to get to work & back, with the occasional fast Sunday ride every now & again.
Only modifications that I have done to the bike are a new set of tyres, Dunlop GP209 (used tyres from my race bike)
The bike currently has just shy of 2400 miles on the clock.
My problem is, since purchasing the bike, my clutch keeps coming out of adjustment. I have to keep adjusting it as the gear changes on the bike get very clunky, and eventually the bike will stop going in to neutral with the engine running.
This wasn't that bad of a problem, quick adjustment of the clutch and everything was fine again. But this time it's happened again and it's starting to affect the performance of the engine. The bike has the same symptoms as before, but now the engine is noticeable slower, and there is significant vibrations through the foot pegs at higher RPM (8-10,000)
I was considering taking it back to my dealer on Monday, but what is everyone opinion on here of the problem? Only thing I've recently done on the bike is change the tyres, adjust the chain.
Thanks for your help, hope the description was okay!
2400 miles with those kind issues going on! Man, I would definitely take it back to the dealer and leave it til they fix it or give you another. If that was happening from day one, and it is still happening, I think I would be pressing them for a new bike. Although, having 2400 miles on it might make it hard to do that. good luck with your issues.
All I can think of is that one of the adjuster lock nuts on the cable is loose, either at the handlebar end, or the other. If it's not that, I'd definitely be taking it back to the dealer to get it fixed under warranty.

I just bought the bike with 3,000 miles on it. it was purchased originally in may. i am the second owner. Sometimes especially when i ride from work, it does not want to go into first gear, when in nuetral. Any suggestions and does the warranty automatically transfer to me, or how do i go about getting it in my name? need help as this is my daily driver. this is also my first bike. I can turn wrenches on cars all day, but this will be the first time with a motorcycle? also how do i make my own thread? new to the forum as well

My bike does that also, Most of the time when attempting to go into first from neutral it wont go unless I roll the bike forward or back an inch or two. I dont think it is problem and am hoping the issue goes away with more miles. I have about 2000 miles on mine and still breaking in .
agree with searcher and cracker, first thought would be oil..
as you have a race bike, this shouldnt be it of course,
but you never know..
with engine 'noticeably slower' plus 'significant vibrations'
for such a young motorcycle it does sound like a dealer issue..
[again, you just never know]

Don't hold the clutch in for a long time when in neutral. Just be idling in neutral with hand off the clutch.... Then pull clutch and a moment later push down to 1st with a firm quick stroke. It will clunk a little but that's normal.
