Default 2012 Honda CBR250R not assembled properly

I purchased my new 2012 CBR250RA in June. After few rides, I noticed oil under my bike. I traced the oil to the source and discovered that the crankcase breather tube was not connected to the crankcase.

The quality control at the Honda facility where my motorcycle was assembled was inadequate. I paid a PDI fee on this bike and it was apparently not adequately inspected prior to delivery as it should have been. That was not the only assembly issue. The right rear turn signal was not mounted correctly; the drain tube on the evaporative cannister was also not connected; the swingarm pivot cover was not attached properly and fell off during washing. Who knows what other problems there are.

I was lead to believe that Honda motorcycles were the best built and had the best quality control. Quality control on the assembly of my motorcycle was definately lacking. I am disappointed in Honda and my dealer.

I wonder if anyone out there also having the same problem.

I brought my bike about 3 weeks ago and I noticed a few issues, The bike's plastic cover over the rear tail light was loose and the hooks that I guess hooks it together is not there so the plasic cover is not tight around the rear brake light. Other then that the bike has been great for me.

Also the bike stalls when I first start it unless I give it some gas quickly. I am new at riding so I am not sure if that is normal or not.

I plan to take it to the dealer soon to get it fixed.

I have done about 1200km so far and had my first service and haven't noticed anything wrong as yet.

These are crate bikes aren't they? They are assembled by the dealer, not Honda.

Yeah, but it's not like the dealer gets a big box full of parts and has to put together a really expensive Lego set. They more or less put in a battery and attach the handlebars.

Honda quality has slipped. Had a Goldwing that suffered from over heating and FRAME CRACKS. Honda did do a recall on the frame cracks and at least took care of that problem. Now this rattle trap 250 is gone and ive had enough of honda crap. Sad because ive been a honda person all my life but things have changed.

It is a shame that you were misled about Honda quality. The highest quality bikes are Triumphs built in Thailand. Even those have the occasional glitch. Mine lost a shifter peg after only twelve thousand miles.

Honda is up there with regards to reliability and quality, but doesn't mean its perfect.

Most people in this section know what it feels like when you get the bad egg of the bunch, especially since the chances of a bad product is considerably lower when buying from one of the Big 4.

This is the first I've seen about this issue here, OP. So you're probably solo on this one. Good luck getting it sorted with Honda and the dealer

No, I don't think there quality has slipped at all. I rate my CBR as one of my favorite all time rides. But it is exactly what I paid for. A very reasonably priced commuter bike, of very reasonable quality and performance. I'm fairly sure I got exactly what I paid for.
If I wanted to get better quality, I would have needed to fork out a lot more money, but then that is not a guaranty that it won't be completely trouble free. The CBR is a really good bike, and the quality is what I expected for the price paid. I've had to tighten the odd part, & pay attention to looking after it, but then that is normal maintenance on a bike.
