While congress ended the direct subsidy Senator Grassely was successful in mandating that a specific quantity of gas with ethanol be produced each year. Soon pure gas will be unavailable anywhere unless congress reverses the mandate.
Use 100% gas if you can find it. Yes the CBR may run on fodder fuel but why support criminals who are converting arable land for food crops to fuel fields. We have enough petrol. Anyone who thinks ethanol is a good deal should be riding a moped.
The fact is that it is very hard to find gasoline in the U.S. without ethanol, or some other oxygenator, such as MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) which is used in a number of mountain states. Marinas still sell non oxygenated fuels, but as anyone knows who has bought gas at a marina for their boat, it is not cheap. If money is no object, you can always buy a 55 gallon drum of race gas. Last time I checked, VP racing gasoline goes for about $13.00 to $16.00 a gallon, plus shipping.
I've been using Shell Silver (5% ethanol here), but will be switching to V-Power/91 (0% ethanol) probably on the next tank until she goes to sleep for winter.

What are you paying for gas in Toronto? I see in today's news, that gas in California is up to record high prices, like $4.50 - $4.65 for regular unleaded... Here in Santa Fe, New Mexico I payed $3.65 yesterday for regular unleaded.
I don't worry about it too much. When I gas up in town I go no ethanol because a station here offers it, and gives a discount if you pay cash which is nice. If it's unavailable I'll go anywhere. Bike runs fine either way.
