Default Need help figuring out what is wrong with a ZX6R

Found a pretty good deal on a zx6r and thought about going to check it out.
Only problem is, it has been sitting for 9 months and won't start now. Owner doesn't seem to know a lot about bikes, but tried to jump it and it wouldn't start.

So my question to you is, what other problems(big or small) are the likely culprit?

Is it something as simple as putting fresh gas in with a new battery?
Or could it be something much worse.

In the pictures provided the bike looks to be in good shape, but that only means so much.
Thanks

What year is the bike?

If it's carburated, it's very likely that gasoline was left in the fuel system during storage and has congealed and turned to varnish, plugging the jets in the carbs... the carbs would have to be disassembled and cleaned, as well as the rest of the fuel system, before putting fresh fuel in the tank.

So it is likely to be the same problem... fuel degradation within the fuel system, just not as easy to correct with EFI as it would be with carbs.

Try a bike that was taken better care of and is in running shape. The owner might be the nicest guy in the world but if it's not running you don't know what other gremlins are awaiting you.

I still would like to take a look at the bike, and like learning what to/not look for.
What are some other things that could be the problem and things to look for?
