In 1800 miles, haven't had a single startup problem -- until today. I pushed the start button and it went "chugachugachuga" over an over but wouldn't start. I eventually got it going by giving it a little gas with the throttle. The only thing that has happened since the last time I started it was washing it (a couple of days ago). Could that have anything to do with it or do I have a bigger issue that needs dealer attention?
Chances are its got water in the spark plug lead or coil pack etc, just spray some wd40 or similar stuff in the lead or blow out with an air compressor if you have one & see how it goes. Worst case take it to a dealer if it still plays up.
Can't see how water could have gotten into the tank. And, no high pressure. Just sponged it with soapy water and toweled it off. I'm thinking that there isn't any connection with the washing at all.
Update. Couple of weeks later and no more start up issues. Guess I will go with the "water on the plugs" answer and not worry about it. Thanks for the help.
