I have tried multiple times to take the word "scam"out of the title but it wont work. Perhaps a moderator could remove that word for me. I appreciate the constructive criticism from everyone.
the word "scam" has been swapped for "sale"

I was there this morning, and one hour after opening, they had a single stock non-ABS model, with red/white/blue paint. I was about to buy it, then decided to switch to a red ABS model. I just prefer that color scheme, and I'm happy I got the ABS. Total cost for mine was their website advertised price, plus about $20 for title paperwork and some Chattanooga use tax. Since I'm out-of-state, I'll pay the AL sales tax when I register it. The salesman told me they've sold about 40 at the $2997 price, and based on my purchase, I think that was the real price.
There still were about 5-6 non-ABS models, with aftermarket pipes and other goodies. The salesman said they'd be about $700 more than the stock bikes.
They are legit when they say no dealer fees or anything mine was more OTD in the end because of the extended warranty and all but my tax was like $250 (GA) and tag was $20. I did notice on the paperwork that came from Honda themselves on the finance it shows I paid full MSRP of $4099 and gave a down payment of $397. (I got mine at their $3699 price) and I didn't have any down payment so somehow in their paperwork that's how they give you the price. Honda sees it as a down payment at least in my case. Who knows how they compensate for that price though.
I bought mine from Southern Honda Powersports earlier this year and the sales team has been nothing but helpful. Out of state licensing has been a drawn out process, but the woman in charge of that is really helpful. Don't count on a quick extended warranty refund, but I imagine that is common.
After reading this thread I was really worried that I was gonna get the bait and switch from Southern but the most painful part of the purchase ended up being the 4+ hours I spent driving to and from Chattanooga to get the bike.
I got dinged with a roughly $73 fee for using a credit card so my cost today was $3094.58. Add maybe $300 for Georgia sales tax and tag transfer fee and I'm looking at roughly $3400 when all is said and done. Compared to the $4700 my last CBR cost me I'd say it was quite the deal...
I'll definitely keep these guys in mind when/if I decide to pick up a CBR600RR, they had them advertised in the $9300 last week so it might be worth the trip to save a thousand or two on the purchase price.

8 hour drive from Champaign... but they gave me $100 in accessories for the drive.
Heck, I drove about 7.5 hours from St. Louis to Southern back 2009 and they didn't offer me any travel discount. Maybe it didn't exist back then.
Anyhow, be careful of their bait and switch on their extended warranty offer. I told the salesman over the phone and via email several times that I wanted the HONDA 4-yr extended warranty. When I was in the finance office "extended warranty" was all that was listed on the paperwork.
It wasn't until later that I learned they sold me their own brand of extended warranty and not the genuine Honda one. Much hassle to get resolved.
I bought my CBR at Southern Powersports and got it at the advertised price, plus tax tag and $100 credit for driving down from Knoxville to buy. Bikes at that price are going like hot cakes and they may have over committed. They tried to get me to buy the extended warranty, but were not obnoxious about it. They do not add on dealer prep fees. Also, I towed my CBR there for the 600 mile service because the shop in Knoxville wanted $300 for it and I got it done there for less than $100. Honda was offering a courtesy valve check. The sunglasses I bought snapped while I was simply putting them on and they sent me another pair to replace them (but same thing happened to the temple on the other pair). Beware of cheap chinese riding glasses. I agree with getting the VIN number if you put down a deposit. Make sure they hold the bike. Lots of people buy there, so hopefully your experience was an anomaly.
