yes, it may be a benefit in the wet if you don't know how to brake properly. But some people's advice saying to get the bike with ABS is stupid! get the bike you want, if it has it then get ABS if you want, but if it doesn't, i would still get the bike even if it didn't have ABS

Now that I agree with. I wanted ABS on my ceebee, but they didnt have any in stock so I bought one without. I would like to have it, but it isnt make or break.

@Wynn... I use my bike for everything. I ride with ppl who own SS bikes and have taken week long trips with them. No real complaints. I have done trips on cruisers, a sport touring bike and the 250. Cruiser was the worse comfort wise. I find that riders will become stiff and sore no matter what. Frequent breaks, pain meds and hydration help.

I am a believer that if a person loves their bike, they make it work. If one rides a bike they despise, they won't enjoy the ride thus, comfort is a mute point. Will see Wynn. This is a decision that has been in the works for yrs.

If you have an ABS bike, you don't make the decision to activate the ABS; it does that itself. ABS cuts in when your tire is about to slide, and stops it from happening.

No one is relying on anything. It's just a different response to braking too hard; brake pulsing instead of tire sliding. ABS teaches the limits just as well as not having ABS, only with far, far less danger.

I don't know where you're getting the idea supersports don't need ABS. Supersports have extremely powerful brakes, which can be far touchier than the little CBR.

The 500 will fit sub-set rider population. In particular the group that do not want an SS. I am interested in seeing it. Will have to be spectacular to change my mind on an SS.

My advice would be to test ride your prospective new bike for a couple of hours in the saddle, without stopping. You may get along really well with it, and I hope you do. I rode a Ducati 1198 a while ago, for two half hour stints, and I couldn't wait to get off the bloody thing. Beautiful, fast, powerful bike, but excruciatingly painful to ride. Mind you, I'm getting on a bit now. I couldn't use it for every day transport, but it'd probably be amazing on the track. Saying that, Nick Sanders seemed to get on pretty well with his R1. I do hope to test ride one which is why this purchase will not take place until the spring. Of course, if we have a stint of nice weather perhaps the test ride will happen earlier. Ive sat on many a bike but, sitting and trying to garner the feel of the bike only goes so far. I thank you for you input. I am not a 20 or 30 something person either so I get stiff and sore quickly. That said, if I stayed away from bikes because they make me stiff, I wld have to stop riding all together. It's the price we pay.

Seems the guys miss the perception... Just saying if it looks good on the rack doesn't mean it looks good on the body. It has to give you the look, the feel the confidence no matter the specs or you won't wear it well.

Yup. It's the whole pcg. It's not just hp. My cbf doesn't get rode. Will sell it. The look and the weight does not go well with me, therefore I don't ride it.

I used to get stiff a lot quicker when I was 20. Oh, wait. That's probably not what you meant.
