I had a nice ride in the cool fall weather today. Its interesting to see leaves falling from trees and coming towards you as your traveling 75mph down the highway. I found myself even trying to dodge them.
Even though I have been riding for close to 2 years, I still get amazed by the smallest things while riding.
Our leaves are on the ground as well, but I got out for a couple hours today. 48 degrees wasn't as bad as I expected. I don't have cold weather gear, but an old leather jacket and a couple of layers and it wasn't bad at all.
I rode today as well, did some 220 km trip to my parents. It's around 4 degrees Celsius here; was nice and with some layers it's bearable. Although the rain this afternoon was bloody cold; somehow it seeps through some of the seems and then with the temperature it's like it's freezing. Warming up with a coffee now.
I've been popped a few times by acorns thrown by squirrels while riding the canopied roads.
I have had rocks fly from tires of the car in front of me and hit me on my helmet shield and big bugs hit, but never an acorn. Thats why I think its crazy not to wear a full-face. Its getting dangerous out there.
Its was noted that wet leaves on the ground can be very slippery. To that i will add wet pine needles. I live in a heavy pine wooded area and my parking lot can be very slick at times.
Even the cold itself is enough to make it slick. I was out yesterday just a degree above freezing and I felt the front start to slip twice while entering a corner
