i'm going to start with this post first. these models that your talking about
do not restrict power, what it does is soften the throttle response you can still achieve the same rpms's through out A,B modes (C mode on the older gixxers) i have one i know. also everytime you kill the ignition the ecu automatically defaults back to A mode.

these are classes that are not dying and will be around for a while, there are simply too many companies that supports this class of bike. Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and these are just the inline 4cyl then you have the Triumph speed triple Etc. the point im trying to make is that the 600cc class will be here for a while due to the racing world and for them to be able to race it they have to have somekind of production model in the lineup

The top end speed is irrelevant you will not hit top speed on a 600 due to its displacement, weight, power, aero dynamics, etc, etc, etc. The top speed is just a theoretical anyway the bike will not achieve it with the rpms available. for instance i have an L1 gix 6 in 6th gear it will not surpass 13k. the motor itself will not push anymore. this is also why a very popular mod on the 6's is a -1+2 sprocket change because it will actually push you to your useable redline in 6th gear which is 15,200revs besides why do you really need to go over say 85 that is the highest posted speed limit in North America anyway (and just to throw it out there i can pull 93mph off the rev limiter in 1st gear)
