It wouldn't surprise me... 600cc sportbike sales have been in the toilet for a while now. The bottom line for Honda, like any other large corporation, is growing the market while turning a profit. And for a large global company, the key to profit and growth, is large volume sales. Pretty hard to do that on a low volume product. They certainly can't justify pouring huge amounts of capital into redesigning a product that has seen its sale numbers slipping away to nearly nothing. That would be bad business. One thing Honda doesn't do... is bad business.

We shall see on Nov 12th, where I live they are way to expensive to buy almost 20K USD, I really would like to have one but even the used 600RR are still more expensive then a new one in the states OHHH WOW is me!

So why not make a 400RR? Lower cost, same performance..just less cc's. It doesn't surprise me if this is true, look at the new models Honda is putting..low cost budget bikes for reasonable prices. However, that can become a bad thing if they start scrimping on quality just to keep them cheap. There was a small touch on this in the last Sport Rider issue, they said that with low interest rates, people were spending the extra money and getting 1000's. 600's were already dangerously pushing the high prices and without updates to the bike, they pushed people away. Honda may very well be headed in a new budget friendly direction..just hope they don't become another Hyosung.

It's not about how much power you have, it's about how much you can actually use.

I agree, the sales for the cbr600rr have been in the toilet and that would make sense to discontinue a product that is not bringing in a profit but a continued loss. However, I bet if they redesigned the cbr600rr, gave it a slipper clutch, a gear indicator and selectable power modes, sales would probably rise. The power modes, like on the 08+ gixxers and the 13 zx6r, will make the bike more beginner friendly due to being able to restrict the power on the bike thus bringing in a larger segment of riders. I think the 500cc budget bikes is the wrong way to go for Honda. However, the 600rr is so close to the 1000rr in price that many people will just buy a 1000rr over the 600rr.
I just hope this bad news is not true....
if the news is true I'm with live_to_ride looking for a zx6r to put in my garage or possibly a 1000rr, but I really don't need that much power but I hate to stray from Honda.

A new high performance racing spec 400rr would alot more expensive than a cbr600/R6/Gsxr600 (which is a class thats dying anyway.)
Something with a such limited market would not sell where they'd sell 10 times as many Fireblades for the same price.
I'd love one but 15-20k will buy you alot of sportsbike.
