Zero motorcycles look very interesting. One of these days I plan to take one for a test ride:

Nearby, an old industrial area was converted to a for-profit off road racing and riding area. During the permitting process, the biggest hurdle was neighbors' concern about the noise. Electric off-road vehicles could open-up more areas like this and satisfy the pent up demand for safe, legal places to ride, near more populated areas.

I am quite interested in the evolution of electric bikes and cars, but they're not quite there yet. Take motorcycles for instance. For £10,000 I can buy an electric bike with the same performance as a £2500 125, that'll average 145 mpg, but it has about a third of the range as the 125 on one tank of petrol, and takes hours to charge. It just doesn't make economic sense yet. When it does, I'll consider it.

The Vectrix is a really nice electric commuter but again, still way too expensive.
