CBR Misfortune...

Hey all. It's been a while since I've posted here, but I figured this should be posted.

So between 9pm (11/11/12) and 7am (11/12/12) my bike went missing. I got out to go to work Monday morning and she was just gone. I filed a police report, contacted the insurance and contacted the bank. She was just taken from my parking spot at my apartments.

Last night (11/13/12) at around 9pm I received a call from my Girlfriend's mother saying that she had found the bike and had moved it to her garage. She verified the license plate number before moving it to make sure she wasn't taking a random bike. I called the police and let them know, they took it off the stolen vehicle list and told me that they will have a deputy get in touch with me in the morning since it was so late.

This morning, I got up, took my lady to work and then went straight to her mom's place to see the bike. She let me get it out of the garage before she had to go to work. I proceeded to call the police and my insurance to update them. The Sheriffs took my statement over the phone and said that they wouldn't get any evidence from it so they wouldn't be out to look at it... The insurance got to work getting my bike a tow truck and an appointment at the shop. She's now waiting at the shop for the insurance to check her out and decide the next step.

While I was waiting on the Tow Truck I was scouring the bike for damages to know what all had happened. I took a bunch of pictures and have uploaded them so you can all see.

This experience has shown me that the stock handlebar lock is not adequate enough of a security system for a bike as it can just be moved to a new location and destroyed. I won't be parking it here again until I get some sort of better security and that's if I even get it back. It may be to the point of being totaled.

Learn from my misfortune and make sure to keep your little ladies secure.

What a bunch of c.u.n.ts.

At least you know that she's not still out there.

Hopefully the insurance will pay out fully for it.

Will it be another CBR250 or thinking of upgrading? (look on the bright side)

well mate you got her back anyway,, you know what they didnt, do to her,,
looks to be complete [sliders etc there], no obvious focus of rage [smashed things]
so perhaps with replacements etc, youll be back on the road pretty soon..

at least you know now, which is like deleting a virus..

Yeah. I was shocked she was gone and sad, but what made me more angry than sad was thinking someone else was out there on her.
Luckily I have full coverage and Gap so if she is totaled, it will cover it. I'm just out the $2,000+ I've spent on her, so far.
I'm not sure if I'll go another 250 or something bigger if she's gone. I love her and love the mileage but I might have to check out the new 500s if they ever show up around here.

Thanks. I saw you had one stolen and I have to say, getting out there and seeing the space without her in it has to be the worst feeling I've had in these 24 years. Just absolute disbelief. I honestly thought that it was a bad dream all day until I got home and she was still gone.

The ignition is completely removed so I couldn't try to start her up. It looks like she was laid down, not sure if while moving or not. Also seems like she was used as a dirt bike with all of the dirt and mud on her.

Yeah. I don't think it was a rage or personal thing, I think they just wanted something to play with. She is really beat up but hopefully not to the point of being totaled. If she is totaled, I may opt to buy her back from the insurance if they offer and just fix her up myself over time. Not sure, though.
A lot of stress gone now that I know exactly where she is, no matter how destroyed she got.

That's not major damage to any one area, but Jesus, they did their best to damage as many little things as possible, and it could be totalled based on the running total.
