I never find a fixed point but instead I follow the farthest point in the road (usually the white or yellow line). The painted lines or the shape of the mountain helps me understand the turn better and from there I subconsciously calculate speed and width to determine my path. Its also important to be aware of the apex in the turn. you dont want to necessarily focus on it, but observer where it is (or will be if you cant see it yet). the apex, is where you want to get the closest to the edge of the corner; like a tangent point of your line and the curve. This ensures that you dont overshoot or undershoot the line and also allows for optimal acceleration and speed through the corner. Heres a pic I found from google:
