My FIRST comment in this thread
“It’s a Honda”: Many dealers say that to convince you buying their product, don’t let you manipulate by them and repeat this stupid sentence!
Honda is not a bad brand, but others offer the same or even better motorcycle quality.
And there are a lot of people who had problems with a Honda and they say “It’s a Honda” I will never buy one again. Others say the same about a Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki or a BMW.
There is NO perfect or THE BEST motorcycle or motorcycle manufacturer, if it was so, everybody would ride the same bike or the same brand.
So the next time someone will tell me “It’s a Honda” I will ask back “Is this a warning?”

Some clarification
To accuse me of having something against Honda is ABSOLUTELY misleading.
Possibly I phrased the thread and it’s topic too provocatively or pithy,
which has led to the polarized positions and may create the appearance
that I criticize Honda or their products. My intention was different,
what needn’t to be repeated here again.
In my opinion and experience Honda manufactures very good products, as
others also do.
I mentioned some arguments where Hondas competitors were successful
during the last years, to oppose your argumentation as a kind “lawyer”
of the other brands.
But for ME as a motorcycle rider it’s not important who wins the
MotoGP, which bike is the fastest in the Superbike competition, if a
overpowered motorcycle, that I don’t need and want has 100 or 140 kW,
or what kind of bike leads in off road races, where I do not use my
motorcycle.
To be fair and objective I also should mention what is important for
me and the motorcycles I choose to ride.
First of all a motorcycle has to be reliable, Hondas bikes fulfill
this expectation. Second it has to be economic, which can be divided
in two sections: the purchase price and the operating expense. The
major part of the operating expense is the fuel consumption.
And Honda has done a very good job here. It offers in their pipeline
the most economic motorcycles. From the CBF 125 via the CBR250R to the
NC700S/X. We have to wait what the three new 500 twins will have to
offer, all equipped with the same engine: CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X. The
prices are suitable, now let's see how „thirsty“ they are.
Regarding my individual [!] choice the CBR250R is now the best
motorcycle on the market, it meets my requirements excellent,
otherwise I wouldn't ride it. Should the CBR250R not exist, I would
probably choose the NC700X, as you know that's also a motorcycle
manufactured by Honda. The SV650S (not built anymore) the Gladius or
the Ninja 650R, you see I prefer singles or two-cylinder machines, are also bikes which I could ride for a longer period of time, but unfortunately they burn too much gas
compared to the mentioned Honda motorcycles.
Many other people have different criteria and would prefer a VFR1200F, F 800 GT or FZ8, that's what is interesting in life, in other ways we would all ride the same brand or motorcycle and had nothing to discuss about bikes. How boring that would be!
Ride safe!
