I watched this last night, it's the first of a 3 part series. Very interesting, and relevant to today's situation.

Usually watch the Louis Theroux doc's, BBC docs, ZDF/NRD docs (German) or anything that pops up at Tegenlicht (Dutch program - for example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXKSzzJz-ys ).
There was a time when History Channel made some nice, though too much popular science style, docs - but these days it's just over the top unscientific spectacle (Did Aliens build the Pyramids? That kind of stuff, mweah - same with Discovery Channel - pure rubbish).

The original of this work was called the Money Masters.
This is very interesting, though somewhat tedious. It has a good explanation of Tally Sticks which worked for 700 years and made one of the greatest empires the world has ever known, also the origin of the word 'stocks' as a financial equity.
