Default Part time, the new full time.

Now that Obamacare is sure to stay the law of the land, business are beginning to lay off workers, and turn full timers into part timers. The Obamacare law requires that workers who work full time, which in the language of the law is 30 hours, receive employer health insurance, or the employer pay a fine.

People who were doing 40 hours, are going to be working 25-29. The working people of the USA are already hurting, and the government is pushing businesses to cut their hours!

If you didn't have health coverage before, you're not going to have it now, and good luck scraping together the money for private coverage after your hours are cut. This is going to push lots of people who were barely making it, over the edge.

The democrats will have to own (politically) this economy for the next 4 years. I wonder how well the democrats will do in 2014, and 2016. Likely they will try to get by with more entitlements. That's how it works, right? Liberals give out entitlement, entitlement harms economy, liberals blame business, liberals give out more entitlements; it just goes on forever.

Good intentions can't bake a cake, and they sure as hell can't run a country. To run a country you have to understand how it all works, and the progressives just don't understand markets.

A prime example of liberal ignorance are those who shout "price gouging!" when petrol prices go up during a disaster.

Here is Ron Paul, to set them straight .

No it's not . I'm thinking I actually want the CBR instead of the N300... I'm not sure though.

The CBR is cheaper...

I once read a John Stossel piece where he defended the legitimate free market value of blackmail.

We should have had a single payer system. The law that was passed is not optimal, but Massachusetts has not fallen apart. Your Chicken Little routine is not working.

So much for corporate responsibility.

In any case, it's just badly designed policy. We all know corporations or employers in general are douchebags, so one could've expected this.

Employers were pulling this kind of thing long before Obamacare came along. Your health care coverage is probably going up because the health insurers are trying every increase they can before the full effects of Obamacare take effect.
The whole point of Obamacare is to stop the escalating, unsustainable rise in medical costs and health insurance. It was made law so that every American can have access to affordable health insurance. Individuals who couldn't afford health care will eventually be able to afford it when new methods of offering it to groups and individuals are created. The increase in people shopping for health care will prompt insurance companies to alter their way of doing business or continue as before and be priced out of the market by cheaper plans. If anything it's turning health care into a commodity that will get cheaper as more and more Americans that have never had health care enter the market.
If health insurance rates continue to climb at the same unsustainable rate even after Obamacare goes fully into effect in 2014 feel free to complain, but to criticize the ONLY attempt in 20 years to curtail the astonishing rise in health care costs before it's even fully implemented is a bit premature, IMO. Unless of course you have a much better plan in mind that escaped the notice of every expert in the field of health care that contributed to this law.

What ever happened to PERSONAL responsibility? Why is it my job to pay for your healthcare, retirement, food, housing and general welfare? What if I don't WANT to pay for you. I've have no interest in being endlessly robbed for the sake of those who can't/wont do for themselves. This can't go on forever; eventually there will be no one left to rob, and all Americans will be equally destitute.

Anyone who believes that Obamacare is going to work is without understanding of markets. Obama can't just force employers to give more people medical coverage, it doesn't work like that. They are going to give their employees the shaft, and get around the requirement.

As hard as this may be for some to acknowledge, not all employees are WORTH health insurance. Employers offer health insurance to lure in talent; a skilled programmer is worth luring in with health insurance, a shop worker, probably not. That is the labor market. Obama, nor congress, can change the nature of markets. All they will do, is force businesses to cut worker hours -- exactly what workers DON'T need. There are no two ways about it... this will hurt people, and it's very sad.
