CBR500Riders.com

I like the red CBR500 red one a few post back. I agree about paper stat's. Until I see another rider that actually owns one, then I'll make up mind to purchase. Before I bought my CBR250R, I knew a bunch of riders. This what lead me to have my present bike.

Would be nice to have a 5ish second 0-60 bike for a little extra rush and get up and go when needed. A 600rr is a bit too much for me in every way. Will the CBR500 have decent acceleration?

But for some, they want to experience the power of supersports. It's not about on how to maximize it's full potential but the joy in brings. It really depends on the person who will use it.
Sure, I hope I didn't come off like I was knocking what your thoughts are on supersports - I was just explaining my logic for my own personal riding lifestyle (for lack of a better term).

Best of luck, fun and safe riding with whatever bike you choose.

I was just at a local dealer who gave me some info on the bike and plans for ordering some. I think it sounds great and hope to get one for next season.

I sat on one at the IMS in San Mateo, CA. I don't like how high the handlebars feels compared to the 250. I don't like how high the handlebar looks compared to the 250. The handlebars in general looking down on it, looks plain and square. The design as a whole looked rushed. I'm a designer in a different field as a career so i know, when something seems rushed. This bike looks like it weighs less an 400lbs. I dont know why it weighs as much as It is being stated. Almost as much weight if not the same as the kawi 636.

I just dont know. Somone with some reviews riding this bike better tell me something good before i plop down close to 7 grand on this thing.

agreed. i want to own and ride a supersport for the overall looks, the rush and experience. I feel that if i bought a cbr500 i wouldn't be excited on one (well i might for one day) but if i bought a supersport i would have a ball on it, and instead of trying to save a little bit of money on gas and insurance etc. and talking about how i won't ride a supersport to their full potential and them being a waste, i don't think they are.

I want to experience a supersport and i know i won't use its full potential - no one on the street really uses the full potential of their cars/bikes and many people buy fast and expensive cars because they like them, so i'm definately going to buy a supersport next but can see why the cbr500r/f/x will appeal to people who want a bit more kick but don't want the supersport experience and don't want a racing bike for the road

A lot of riders will say they're not very comfortable for cruising around.

I wonder if, when they're passing me on my 250 on the freeway at 120mph (they seem to need to show off to other bikers for some reason), it's really because they're in a hurry to get it over with.

It is a truly amazing experience. But to be honest, it gets boring. It is still a rush when you get on it, but for commuting or super slabbing it is lack luster and boring...imho of course. But back road canyon carving it can't be beat.

I for one am very excited about the 500. I wanted more gitty up without the crazy high costs of insurance and bike cost.

there are good reasons why hondas excellently designed
cbr250r is the top selling motorcycle in the world today..

cbr500r [and variants] another chapter in that reality,
part of a history of making the best for the purpose,
be it world championship destroying six cylinder
ceramic piston 250cc gp racer to 110cc postie
bike [the top selling motorcycle of all time]...

this new cbr500r will without doubt perform well
within its design parameters, which now includes
the motorcycle used in 2013 European Junior Cup..

however the cbr500r presents on the showroom floor
and on the roads, there will without doubt flow from
the euro cup all sorts of subtle refinements and
race oriented tuning etc for cbr500r [ ]

I'm also excited that it will be used in the Junior Cup because that should mean performance tuning and research should be more prevalent on the 500 than our 250. That's only one of many reasons I'm excited about this bike!
