If it is like the 250, the USA won't see any CBR500's until next June.
.
My Kawasaki dealer is also stuck with the same 2012 Ninja650 that they have had all year. The market is saturated with used ones for $4000. A super sport bike it is not.

It'll be interesting to see the torque curve on this bike. I've ridden two 500's A Kawasaki ER5, which I used to own, which had a fair amount of low down torque, and wasn't a bad bike, apart from the build quality, and a Honda CBF 500, which was a courtesy bike, which was sorely lacking at the bottom end. It went OK when thrashed, but was uninspiring where it really mattered. All engines are different though, so I won't pre-judge the CBR 500R. On paper, it does look like a good all round bike to me. I have no intention of buying one though, as my CBR 250R is the perfect bike for me.

The Ninja 250 used to be an easy sale, now I see plenty of them used piled up in dealerships for 3k a pop.

Hey guys dis you realize the fact that the dynamics of the engines of cbr250 and cbr500 are nearly the same?
both has peak hp at 8500 rpm and peak torque at 7000 rpm just they cut the engine on 8800 - 9000 rpm on cbr500 i am sure for fuel economy as it is going until 10,500 rpm on cbr250 but run out of the steam of course after 8500 rpm.
Compression is the same too: 10.7:1
It looks like they have just glued two cbr250 engine together, not much. I am sure most of the internals are the same as well possibly a bigger counterbalancer though.
And most important and interesting fact at all: Their WTMC fuel consumption figures are the same 27 km/liter, think about it, a a 500 c engine giving the same fuel consumption figures as a 250 cc!!!.
That is great job IMO for Honda if it is true. Well done really, getting the same fuel economy like cbr250 on this 500 cc is totally amazing man!!!
By the way, the full engine specs: 47 crank hp at 8500 rpm and 44 nm torque at 7000 rpm. This site explains everything spec wise.: http://www.hondamc2013.com/bikes/cbr500r/ but is this an international site or just connected to the UK Honda site?
Hope we get a bump on it for Thailand though for power, please Honda

Note: And also, cbr500 has two 55 w bulbs and cbx and cbf has one and it is stated as 194 kg with ABS which is pretty OK! as i was expecting 4 kg on top of 194 for ABS version.
By the way the information on weight changes everyday nearly man. In USA Honda site, it was claimed as 430 pounds and now it is 425 wtf?

Bore and stroke are totally different on the 500. It's almost square.

47 at the crank, so 40 at the wheel and it weighs 10 tonnes.
the 250 will ride circles round it, the Krapasaki 300 will eat it.

That's actually quite interesting, will the ninja 300r actually eat this bike if it actually is 47 at the crank?, was hearing something about the cbr having 54 at the crank at one point.
