Honda NSR 500

He knows not where he's going, for the road it will decide, it's not the destination, but the glory of the ride.

The power that two-strokes can produce is scary, especially when you couple it with the weight of the engine.... A bud of mine had a Yamaha RD350 back in the 70's - weighed the same as the CBR250R, but had 40Hp and would wheelie all day with a blip of the throttle (it was a bit tail-heavy). Handled well and had good brakes to boot.

If that sounds unremarkable, keep in mind that the Honda CB450 that I had at the time had five more horsepower, but 100 more pounds - and it wound up a lot slower (ponderous by comparison). I did get much better fuel mileage, but gas was $0.30 a gallon, so who cared?

By the way, the 1974 RD350 retailed for $900.....
