The 500X will steal most of the sales from the 700X based on the much lower price and the fuel filler is in the right spot for carrying luggage on the rear seat.

I think the #1 commuter's choice will still be the NC 700. The 500x is actually addressing some issues people have with the NC 700; range and tank placement (mostly travellers obv).

Now in my ideal world I'd have a NC 700 with a normal fuel tank (and a tad more wind protection). Honda is probably not gonna build that so when the time comes I'll compare the NC 700x and the CB500x.

Maybe both bikes steal a bit. But both bikes are still sold by Honda. Honda really starts to produce bikes I really like TBF.

It's probably very cheap to build the X together with the F and R since they are sharing pretty much everything.

in an even idealier world Honda would build a NC 1000-1200ish capable of doing 60 mpg when ridden sensible, good weather protection and a shaft drive. Please add a 6+ gallon fuel tank as well. I'd buy one without a testride.

I have to be fair....the tenere 1200 covers quite a few boxes described above. I just really like decent fuel consumption. Ima efficiency freak

Oh, so I am not a real motorcyclist because you don't like the way that I use my bike. Good to know.

I bought an NC700x four weeks ago. I could not wait till next spring. That wait would have killed me.

Now they have come out with a line of new 500cc bikes.

Do I regret my decision? Not really. I bought the bike mainly for the 700cc power for touring and commuting. Mpg is important to those that tour and that hate giving money to the gas kings. Plus the storage compartment has been absolutely WONDERFUL for me.

I added a slip on exhaust and it has even more hp and smoothness. Great sound.

If everyone is going to buy the CB500x then I will have the cool, unique NC700x that no one else has. I get looks every time I ride it and compliments about the bike from everyone.

(P.S. I occasionally ride the sh*t out of it and still get 60'ish mpg.)

Honestly, the "Adventure" bikes are my favorite style.

Standard motorcycle, with a bit of dirt bike, and a bit of sport bike thrown in.

Comfortable seating with a sporty/aggressive styling. If there was a a KLR 250 or something like that, I'd buy it over the CBR in a heartbeat.

Those high seat heights screw me though. Dang my 29" inseam!
