Default CB500X marks death toll for NC700X?

I've been glancing over some of the stats with the introduction of the new Honda 500's and I'm having a really hard time figuring out why I would want to buy the NC700X? (Unless I wanted the auto tranny and was bent on the storage in the pseudo tank).

The 500X is 42 lbs lighter yet should have equal if not more horsepower, (NC700X is rumored anywhere between 48 to 51 depending what you read).

The 500X has 0.8 gallons more fuel capacity.

The 500X has a 0.8" lower seat, though it does give up a tad in suspension travel, (0.5" in front and 1.1" rear).

Same tire dimensions, and nearly identical brakes ... and for a thousand less give or take a few?
Plus, unlike the 700X, the 500 should rev more like a traditional bike motor.
Anyone else think the 700X is a thing of the past?

No, The over square, low revving (6K redline), long stroke motor of the NC700X will give better fuel economy than the 500X (9K redline). If you are in the market for the most fuel efficient bike, you will not beat the NC700X or the CBR250R. They both average in the high 60's to low 70's as median gas economy numbers on fuelly.

Well sure, that's a great point, but I wonder what the expected fuel economy will be for the new 500's?
Let's see, for around $1,000 I could buy in excess of 250 gallons of gas. At a paltry 60 mpg that's roughly 15,000 miles - free! Only after that would the gas hoggin 500 really start to break my wallet compared to the 700X.

Torque. The NC700x has lots of it. LOTS. So you could just short shift and get better gas mileage than the cbr250r.
