Next bike? Something a quarter litre or less, for sure; I have no need for anything bigger. The CBR250R looks a good option, but is not the only one. Let's see when the time comes, when I return to Godzone.
For now the 15 year-old 100 cc bike I have had for the past nine years serves my needs just fine on an island 50 km long by 20 km wide.
Practical transport is what I look for in a motorcycle, as do many others who have been riding for years. I've been there, done that with bigger bikes. The bigger buzz is only fleeting, and (from my point of view) not worth the extra expense.

Yamaha FZ6R, Honda CBR500, Suzuki SV650, Honda CB1000r, or Honda VFR1200. Orrrrr a Triumph Street Triple. Ohhh..or a Ducati Diavel. ROFL, I guess, I'll just have to stick with my CBR250r until I can narrow my choices down a bit.

Probably another BMW airhead tugging a sidecar.
I want to build a specialty sidecar so I can take a friend riding. She is partially disabled and I think it would be cool to have a car that she could drive her Hoveround scooter in and out of.
I know some Viet Nam vets (paraplegic) did this when they came back home and could roll their wheelchair in/out. They even rigged a 2nd steering neck in front of the car and moved the controls over so it could be piloted from the chair.

Mate that sounds awesome! I've been working with people with disabilities on and off for ten years or so and I know of a few guys that would love a ride in something like that - especially motorbike accident victims. Good luck with the project.
Feel a bit shallow now but i'm thinking of the KTM Duke 690 for my next bike. Looks like the perfect jump from the CBR250 after the year and a half on a restricted licence - it's a little bit lighter than the CBR250, comfortable riding position, small, switchable ABS, great handling, fuel economy approaching the CBR250 while getting close to 3 times the power and a list price of 11 grand in Oz (trust me, not that much for a new bike here). Seems like it'd even be good for touring with the right screen. Only issues are that I was hoping to go for a multi-cylinder bike next - the thumper sound just isn't quite there for me - and the look of the headlight & surround is a bit too dirtbike, but I'm sure there's a solution for that and i think it looks great in profile. The positives WAY outweigh the negatives in my, admittedly inexperienced, eyes.
I think the KTM690 is the perfect bike except the looks just don't appeal to me. One of the new Honda 500s or a moto guzzi v7 stone will be my next bike.
