It's close to double the power of the CBR250 with less weight and better quality suspension, so I figure it's the perfect next step for me.

the uk site lists it with a price of £4500. For comparison UK price of the CBR250R ABS is £4100. I'd say that's a small price to push up to 44HP

It'd be nice if they added some smaller enging supersports though. They've got this 250R on their site which hopefully implies it will make it to road bikes at some point KTM Production Racer KTM RC 250 R

Seriously considering for my next bike... If I can't get the Duc, I'll get the KTM. Or maybe the CBR500...

I called some US KTM dealers (well, they do KTM along with 9 other brands of course) and they said maybe 2 weeks until we know if this is showing up stateside. I am definitely all over this as my next bike, plus it looks way better than the honda 500 and even the ninja 300. and its a single!

I'd rather V-Twin as opposed to thumper, but to be honest, at twice the power and slightly less weight, I'm sold. And it does look much better than the CBR500 series.

Ok I know this is a waste of time given how far out the launch date is and that pricing is set at what the market will bear, but I'm bored of uni work...

Given the UK price of 4495 pounds quoted by visordown and the difference in prices between the duke 200 and 690 here and in the UK, the Oz price should be between:

AU $6182 (based on AUS / UK duke 200 price differential)

AU $7493 (duke 690 differential)

with the half-way being $6838.

Logic would suggest that being sourced from India the Duke 200 price would be more indicative, but logic also suggests they could charge a sh;tload more than that and still sell heaps.

Also, that UK price could be doubtful too unless they are going to discontinue the Duke 200 there. Who would buy one when the 390 is only 500 more?

I reckon Oz pricing will be $7.5 - $8.5k. And unless it gets really bad reviews I'll be on one asap.

Note - no considering of dealer delivery charges or on road robbery

In the uk, listed prices are typically on the road, i.e including all VAT, registration etc

Lots of people assuming this bike will be over $9000 because of KTM's Austrian-built racing dirtbikes' pricing need to keep in mind Honda's Japanese-built race 250 machines cost $7400 and the CBR250 was $3000 cheaper.

After researching this a bit, they're using the exact same frame they use for the Duke 125 and Duke 200.

Honda really seemed to be on the ball as far as upgrade paths for CBR250 owners with the 500 lineup...

But the KTM 390 Duke will match the CBR500 on power and spec and be a full 100 pounds lighter

I've noticed weight is down significantly on their upcoming 1190 adventure bike as well, so KTM seem to really be emphasizing adding lightness.
