CBR250 vs Ninja 300 0 to 60 times

Cycle Word just tested small bikes in their latest issue. Our CBRs did pretty good. Zero to 60 in 7.4 is really good for a little 250 but holy crap did not expect the Ninja 300 to do that in 5.6. That is just as fast as a new VW GTI. It has crossed my mine to switch over to the Kawa side at times.

If youre into small bikes The March 13 Cycle World issue is the one to get.

I was going to get the 300 before I bought the honda. There's no doubt that the 300 engine is really sweet. It's the rest of the bike that you have to worry about. Super sweet looking, but fit and finish not that good. That's one of the reasons I went with the little honda.

I assume all the stats listed were measured/tested by the magazine? I'll get to 60 mph 2seconds slower in exchange for the 20mpg further it will go... 74 vs 54 I assume tested under the same conditions.

Yeah, I'll take that trade too. And if I wanted to get to 60 even faster I would've just got a 600 again. Haha

just remember the 300 has 40% more power than the other two!
I would suggest its better off compared against the new lineup of middleweights (CBR500, KTM 390) but those are in the mid 40's of HP so have another 25% again. The 300 is kind of in a middle ground of it's own. having said that, id love to see a similar comparison between the ninja, cbr500 and ktm 390, unless there's any other middleweights ive missed.

Well if the Ninja 300 can hit mid 5 seconds I see the CBR500 doing it in 4 to 4.5 seconds which is what one second slower than the latest 600s out there. That is a whole lot of speed for 5999. About freaking time the bike makers woke up and made bikes for regular Joes out there that cant afford a new 600 that cost 12k plus and crazy high insurance costs.

I doubt the 500 will be faster 0-60 than 5.6 seconds. The ninja sounds faster than the nc700, I don't know what it's figures are, but it has 46lbs torque.

A lot of problems with fairings not fitting properly. Read about it on the 300 forum and a buddy of mine down south says he's not to happy with the way his keeps popping out of place.

I think you're right. I can't see the 500 being any quicker 0-60, but it will have much more grunt low down in the rev range, where it's more useful.

He knows not where he's going, for the road it will decide, it's not the destination, but the glory of the ride.
