Sorry, I can't oblige with photos of Thailand's most elegant festival (and my favourite) this year.
If I had gone to Patong, Karon, or Kata, I would probably have got some decent shots, but I was not of a mind to be bothered with the traffic. I went to Ao Chalong, which was OK. There was nice atmosphere, with people their floating the krathongs from the pier.
When I take photos I usually have in mind the kind of story I want to write, and the kind of shots I want to get. However, last night with pressure of work, or whatever, I found nothing to get traction on. I was happy to just enjoy the event sans camera.
Maybe next year. In the meantime, New Year should provide something worth trying to capture. I am still very much a novice at this digital photography, but enjoying learning.

How did the ceebee handle the unpaved roads? I ran into one on my last trip and was hesitant to try it out. It's the traction I'm most concerned about. The stock tires on mine are all weather, but idk about all-road...Thanks. and beautiful pictures!

Sorry, I can't answer your question. I am on a Honda Dream 100 here..... I came to this forum when I saw CBR250R on sale in a local shop early last year..... and decided it could well be the bike I go for when I return home to NZ.
However, my guess is that the CBR250R should go OK on unpaved roads. I would certainly be inclined to take it further than something more genuinely sporty.
I have ridden many different bikes on gravel roads; we have quite a few in NZ. Just hang loose, and anticipate and pick your track. Don't be too heavy handed with the braking, accelerating and manoeuvring inputs and you'l be fine.
A lighter bike is easier to handle then a heavyweight if things do start to get awkward..... not to mention easier to pick up and less likely to suffer damage if you do come off.

If it is a quiet, romantic honeymoon you are after, places such as Khao Lak, Ao Nang, and further south to Koh Lanta could be good choices. They are all becoming popular with families and couples, and development seems more controlled than some better known places.
For people who like a bit more excitement and nightlife, Phuket is a good option, though i would have to agree with National Geographic a few years ago, when they reckoned it is "getting ugly". None the less, it still has quiet spots that are still beautiful, where you can hide out, and emerge from if you want a taste of the bright lights.
Thanks for the tips on places to go, my boss lives in Phucket, he wants me to go there, however I really want to rent a bike and go that route, I seen you posts of riding and really want to see the country. I have a few friends in Bangkok I will visit them a few days and then take the rental bike out for a 10 day ride all around Thailand. My main concern is the language barrier also is it safe to travel around in Thailand? Any area's we should stay away from? Maybe I can get one of my friends to ride with us is needed Thanks again for the pics and great write ups!

Thailand is a big country to ride around in 10 days, but pick your route and can find some interesting places. Some of the best riding is in the North, out of Chiang Mai. I gather it is fairly well served with rental motorcycles; it is a while since I was up there.
The Mae Hong Son Loop is reckoned to be one of Thailand's best motorcycle rides.
A ride from Bangkok to Phuket (in several legs) could be worth considering. The most common main route through Surathani is about 900 km. However, eading west at Chumporn and going through Ranong takes you through some spectacular country near the the border with Burma / Mayanmar.

Language should not be too much of a barrier. Most places there will be someone who speaks at least enough English to facilitate things.
The main danger is the traffic; probably not too different from the Philippines, just that in Thailand driving is on the left hand side of the road. Outside the main centres and tourist areas, people are fairly friendly. Bandits and the like are not a problem these days. About the only area it could be worth avoiding is the southern three provinces, where there is some insurgency.
Riding with a friend with local knowledge would probably be good, but not essential.

Would love to take that ride...thanks for the great description and photos.
Then you come up north and visit me-then you will see nature and wonderful tracks.
Just send me a message if you came around and we find out of something.
This is my Facebook profile-been living up north in Chiang Rai for about 4 years now-so if you are interrested to see pictures from northern Thailand you just ask for freindship (just tell me that you come from this site) and you will have enough for a while-guess I have 10.000+ pictures in there.
There is a album in there-motorbike ride in northern Thailand-2500 km-great shots.
