I took my stickers off to apply a wrap to my bike. All you need is a heat gun, they peeled right off mine without any leftover residue, took 5 minutes.

I am also short and had my bike lowered. I have a friend who is a bike mechanic who took off the dog bone and we brought it to a welder to have it cut and shortened then placed it back on the bike....
