Something I've noticed is that several of our forums seem to have become "catch all's", and are beginning to lack focus. For example, you can find exhaust threads in the Performance, Parts & Accessories, Appearance & Modifications, and General Discussion forums. The same is true for many of the common topics pertaining to the CBR250R.
I've noticed that many other motorcycle forum websites have much more defined forum titles, such as Riding Gear & Apparel, Aftermarket Exhausts, Tires, and the list goes on... even under the general heading of Off Topic Discussions, you'll find sub-forums titled Politics, Sports, Entertainment, etc. Here, our Off Topic Discussion forum is under the heading Other Motorcycles. Huh? If you go check out 600RR.net, you will see what I'm getting at. Other than their General Discussion forum, everything else is very specific. It's like they are a fairly well organized department store, while we have the house paint shelved right next to the ketchup & mustard.
As our website continues to grow, I just think it would be nice to see more expansion of the forums, into more specific topics.
Thoughts and opinions?
PS: Please don't reply with "Just use the search function"... that's not what I'm asking about in this thread.

Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind
Had to get away to see what we could find
Hope the days that lie ahead
Bring us back to where they've led
Listen not to what's been said to you

Just scrolling through the General Discussion forum, which has just over 1900 threads, I think there are at least several hundred that should have been started in one of the other existing forums. I don't understand why someone would start a thread in the GD forum, asking a question which clearly belongs in the Service & Maintenance forum.

A few of the forums could probably be combined like Performance and Appearance Mods, the problem is when you have a bunch of separate but confusingly similar areas so nobody knows where to post.

TBH I don't really care how this forum's organised. I usually click on the "New Posts" button, and I see all the new posts, irrespective of what category they're posted in. If I'm interested in a post, I'll have a look at it, if not, I'll ignore it. Simples.

I think some people would be more inclined to post in the GD forum instead of another down further because GD is probably the one with the most traffic and gets the most attention so it is more noticed. For example, i saw one guy post his cbr250r for sale in the GD forum when clearly there is a forum for that, either he forgot or he wants everyone to see it as soon as they login
I like the idea of a more direct forum and i agree about exhausts rolling up in multiple threads and sometimes you go to look for a thread and you're not sure if it's in the GD, service, parts or apperance forum. I like this site as is but if it was more like the other motorcycle.com forum networks that would probably be a good idea. I also agree about the site growing more, the more orgainised it can be the better
