I wouldn't waste my money on them. My 250 is a race only bike and I have been down on both sides a couple of times. Not once has there been so much as a scratch on either case cover. The points of contact the bike seems to like slide on are- clip-on tube, upper corner of the upper fairing next to the instrument panel, Rear set peg, exhaust, and the tail fairing on the outside right about where your butt would be.
Every crash is different and I'm sure it would be possible to damage them, but at that point IMHO you've written the bike completely off.
