cbr250r exhaust tip mod

hi all, new poster here.
was just wondering what some opinions would be on getting one of those cheap exhaust tips that are supposed to make your car look cool and sticking it on the cbr in place of the stock muffler. my reasoning for this is not for the look or the sound but for replacing 30 pounds with 1 or 2 pounds. just curious i guess if itll cause any damge to the motor and also if itll drain some power from it.
thanks in advance

Plenty of exhaust threads on here. Search bar is in the middle of the top of the page.

And my opinion, the cheap autozone $7 exhaust tip isn't going to fit, and even with fabrication which is neither worth the time or the effort in doing, it's going to look like ass.

Tis better to be thought a fool and remain silent, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

thanks for the tip ill be sure to look through them first next time.
im not talking quite that cheap, they have "resonating" exhaust tips at canadian tire for $50, thought it might be worth a try as theyre not the ones that just screw on.
thank you for the input

well, its going to be painfully loud, so if your not looking for the sound, its certainly going to find you regardless lol. its going to be basically like taking the stock exhaust off and running open header. honestly, you can buy a cheap knock off slip on for a few bills, or even the eBay gp style "mufflers" for under $100. there have been people who have had issues with hard starts with exhaust setups such as these, as well as shifting your torque curve considerably. imho, i wouldnt do it :/ even if you buy a nice tip, and mock it up, its going to look off and not be the kind of quality you'd want on such a nice new bike. but thats just me. i had a pep-boys tip as the exhaust on my old gy6 scooter, and it sounded like butt and fell off all the time :/ hella embarrassing.

We have a huge number of aftermarket exhaust threads here. I compiled an index of these threads to make searching for info a little easier...

Whether you go with an inexpensive, lower quality slip-on or a $300+ high quality unit (some of these name brand, quality slip-on exhausts can be had used for about $200), I'd recommend getting one that is at least designed and made for the CBR250R.

Oh man I am so happy I clicked this thread. Made me laugh my ass off.

@ the OP, You do realize there is a HUGE difference between an exhaust tip and a muffler right? Those tips made for cars go on the exhaust after the muffler, it doesn't remove it.

Man do you even realize what a bike sounds like with no muffler? I got something for you to do, go out to your bike, pull off the muffler, then go ride around the neighborhood. It'll be so loud you will hate it. Also you can get a ticket for that in CA, not sure about where you live..

Do yourself a favor if you are that cheap and just get a cheap Thailand exhaust off ebay that fits the pipe. -,-
Otherwise spend a few hundred and get something worth while.
