Ram mount arm length

I am getting ready to mount a GPS to my bike and was wondering what lenght arm I should use when I order my ram mount. I was thinking of just ordering three lengths and trying all of them but it would be simpler if I could find some one else who has already done this it would save time.
Idealy I would like one that is just long enough to work and does not stick out any further then needed.
I plan to have this on a fork mount.

Learning how to go fast is more important to me then doing it. That is why I ride a cbr250r.

I've got the fork mount. Love it. Not sure which length I ordered, it came in a bundle type deal from GPS city. If it is too long, you wont be able to see the bike's meters unless you have it poiting verticallly.

i have a 3" Standard arm but mine is on a stem mount...i did put a double ball clutch/brake mount on too and ordered the short arm with it (2"?)..was gonna use it for my ContourRoam Camera but didnt like the view from there..i found the arm would have been way to short even if I had liked it, ...I think 3" is pretty universal in most applications
