Hey riders, yeah I know there are lots of starting trouble issues posted here in this website. But I am not that techy to know whether my bike's starting trouble is the same as that of other posts.
So, my bike is Honda CBR 250R 2013 non ABS model. It has coved 1850 km (1118 miles). The bike was going fine and smooth all these days, then the rainy season hit my locality. Had to travel some in the rains and had to park also in the rain sometimes.
The Starting Trouble:
When I turn on the ignition, everything goes fine until I touch the Start switch. When I press the start switch the normal sound of starting up I could hear but the rpm is not going up nor the bike is starting. If I give a bit of acceleration then it will start. Can anyone here help me out? Any suggestions about the issue?
Once when I turned on the ignition key the headlamp was on and it was in high beam (But the headlamp switch was in off position & the high/low beam switch was at low position). It got ok when I turned off and on the ignition couple of times.
Is this and the starting issue inter connected? Any common reasons?
I would first confirm you have a good battery. Using a volt meter, check that you have 12.7V or more before starting. If that's good, turn the ignition on and see if it drops significantly, then check it as you are cranking it over. It should not go below 10V while cranking.
Next I'd check the condition of the air filter. If it's really dirty it can cause staring problems.
I would add a strong fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron Concentrate (1oz per gal) now, and once per year. That will clean the injector and the valves/combustion chamber. In some countries detergents may be lacking and it can lead to deposits. The gas could also have water in it if the cap is not sealing properly. If you think that's the case you would need to drain the tank. Adding good gas on top of bad gas isn't going to solve the problem.
Spark plugs have been know to fail, so that's another possibility.
Not sure what you mean about the headlight switch being in the "off" position. There isn't an "off" position for the headlight as far as I know, but there is a thread here (https://www.cbr250.net/forum/cbr250-p...fuel-pump.html
) covering issues with the ignition switch not functioning properly, but there hasn't been a resolution yet.
