Exclamation Air Injection Solenoid Valve Question

When I put an aftermarket muffler on my bike I plugged this valve as per the common knowledge on this forum.

The muffler did not stay on the bike long, I currently have my OEM back on.

My question - will it hurt anything to leave this valve plugged?
I'm getting ready to go on a 5-day trip, and I don't want to damage anything.

Thanks.

Short answer is "you are good to go, nothing will be damaged".

Long answer is that with it plugged and using the stock muffler
with the valve plugged, the catalytic converter will not be very
efficient. It needs the extra air air to burn off the hydro carbons
in the exhaust. Pic 1 shows the air line in the head which bypasses
the combustion chamber and goes directly to the exhaust port
above the exhaust valve. I removed the entire system, put a
cap on the airbox fitting and taped the electrical fitting from the
solenoid Pic 2. Pic 3 shows the pair valve cover plate that I made.

I have used a couple of after market exhausts and have gone back
to the stock exhaust. I have had no problems at all since 2011

It will create more emissions but not harm the engine.
I have been good for almost 5 years. You should have no problem
for 5 days.

I do still hope to get a CBR500 muffler one of these days.
