An inexpensive, but good, choice would be Rotella T5 10W-30 blend.

The next step up would be a full synthetic 10W-30 like HP4, Motul, etc. Not a big fan of GN4

I feel it's a good idea to at least run a synthetic blend in the CBR, keep track of the level closely, and change it frequently, as the volume is not very large.

I've tried expensive oil. But for me, the best one is that's around $5-$10. You'll get semi or full synthetic oil.

I also changed the oil quite often.

Garage
AMSoil frequently tests their oils against the competition and are extremely high quality.

That said, these bikes were designed for emerging markets in which synthetic oil isn't available. They really don't need high end oil.

I use a cheap full synthetic. It's probably not needed, but the price difference is minimal and I occasionally ride in sub zero weather.

Every bike is a good bike. The question is whether or not it's the best bike for what you want to do.
