67 mph

87 mpg US lifetime is not bad for real world commuting at a 67 mph average speed on super highways for 80% of the ride and 3 giant hills and while carrying a large trunk bag stuffed full with both sides unzipped. I can't wait to enter an official hypermiling event where the 45 mph average speed will boost the economy to way over 100mpg so I can put something up against the "100 mpg Ninja" article that everyone quotes. They just had an event last month within riding distance of my house so I will have to look for that next year. My commute economy will go up a bit more if I get some longer gears on the bike. Many companies advertise that they make custom sprockets but none have shown any interest in actually doing it for this bike. They mostly play with dirt bikes so I may have to settle for drilling the vintage JTM285.15 to fit. I'm also working on a more aero rack today.

Wouldn't mind a picture in here, along with your mileage, but not an attachment, use the insert image button. Thanks!

i said this in the other thread too.

I've gone through 4 tanks now.
it's impossible to get to 300 let alone 350.
i've tried going slow as slow. and thrashing it.
havnt gotten past 280km with the 13L.
which is about 60mpg

my last bar's started blinking always between 230 and 240km.

although i always fill it to the max. upto the neck. but my last bar dosnt show up. i dont know :S i always get 5 bars not 6

I had this problem the first couple of fills. Now I don't stop when I get to the fill plate. If you go slow you'll find that you can get quite a lot more fuel in as the air is displaced from the high side of the tank. You have to watch the level in the neck very carefully though to avoid overflowing. I now get 6 bars but only for 15 miles or so.

It's possible to get more, but maybe not for me or you. Don't go past the fuel station at 280km, good to know!

89.0

159.1/ 1.788 = 89.0 mpg US
Still using 87 octane with 10% ethanol.
