1998 with around 36,000 mi. Added new tires, fluids, and steering head bearings that were flattened.

My oldest boy is heading to CA, from WI, on it this weekend. Just turned 21, and looking for adventure...

That is a gorgeous bike.

Is your son just visiting or staying in CA?

Those V-fours are a lovely motor. I had the original 750cc variant in the mid eighties. Nicve vibe and sound plus enough bottom end grunt to pull stumps outta the ground! :D

Thanks - he really likes it.

Just visiting a friend for now, but I bet he will be moving there after graduating as a ME in a couple years.

I was surprised at how well it handled, especially the fast stuff - super stable.

Power is great. Smooth like an electric motor all the way up, but a nice rumble with an aftermarket can.

Very clean bike, obviously it was well taken care of these past 20 years.

It looks to have been used but not abused most of its life. He went through it and adjusted everything as well as changing all the fluids.

He's been doing 700+ miles per day on it for the last couple days. Looks like about 2100 mi one way. Should reach his destination at the end of the day today.

So far so good...

Did 2400 mi in 3 days on it. No thanks. Ah to be young, and...

In-between LSR events right now, with the cycle speed trails starting later this week I think. Local LSR team left today with their turbo Ducatis.

700 miles per day? i wouldn't even want to do that in a car. o_O
I already get neck and shoulder problems when riding the 250 for more than 1.5 hours without a break.

He took a few detours, so it ended up being over 800 per day. I told him to take an extra day on the way back. Hopefully he'll listen to good advice.

I couldn't do it.
