Can't really get a good look for cross traffic in this situation, and wouldn't expect some dumb*** driver to run the red that bad.

Just goes to show you never know.

Ouch. That's why I always look left and right even if I have a green light.

Me too; it's become ingrained in my driving because of my motorcycling.
There's a bicycle rider who ran a red light who owes his life to me because of that habit. I'm certain that I would have run him over if I had taken off when the light turned green, but I first looked left and then right and then noticed him still coming fast from my right ( on the wrong side of the road, too ) when his light was red. I doubt he noticed anything -- he didn't even look at all startled when he flew past the front of my car.
