I use my 3 foot long breaker bar and hold the right side with another wrench. Comes right off with nearly no effort at all that way.

It was NOT going to come loose on it's own!

Depends on maintenance and abuse. I would say most o ring chains if maintained properly are good for anywhere between 15-20 thousand miles

Cut it too long, and trim to fit!
