I paid $3750 Cdn for the bike five years ago. The insurance company is valuing the bike at $2650 Cdn, and giving me another $940 for after market stuff.

A local dealer has a...

I'm waiting to see what options the insurance company gives me. If I can get a partial payout and keep the bike, so much the better, but it really depends on what the new estimate included. The...

After a month of the insurance company and appraiser screwing around, they finally agreed on an estimate.

Bad news: They've decided to write the bike off.

Good news: They're valuing the bike at...

Welcome!

Glad to hear that you're properly geared out before taking training. It's amazing how many people wait until the last weekend and try to get geared up on a shoestring budget.

Impact of Vibration on Rider Fatigue

There's been a fair bit of research done into impact of whole body vibration and hand arm vibration on rider fatigue, but it's usually directed towards automotives. It's a very complex issue, with...

In my part of Canada, they're going for $2100-2700 Cdn. That's between ~ $1600 and $2100 USD, but bikes generally cost more up here than in the US.

Hopefully that gives you a ballpark to work...

If it's a 10 mm flange bolt, the service manual says it should be torqued to 39 Nm or 29 ft-lbs.

Don't take that as gospel, though. The torque value the service manual gives for the oil filter...

Taller gearing reduces mechanical advantage, which translates to less power to the road. It's akin to shortening the near end of a lever; you don't need to move it as far to get the same result, but...

With 15T/37T, 120 is at about 7200 RPM. As always, your mileage may vary.

One thing I have noticed is that the loss of power JKV mentioned leads to the bike really not wanting to accelerate in...

Which makes sense, really. It's tracking the wheel rotation rate anyway, so it may as well use that for the speedo as well. It's not like ABS is optional on that model, so there's no reason to not...

I finally got around to swapping the sprockets, so I wanted to revisit this and report the outcome.

I went with a 15t front and 37t rear, which puts it at around a 9.12% difference. The speedo...

It's unfortunate the displacement categories don't line up. Including supersport 600s in the same category as the CB300 ruins how useful that category is. I suspect the CB300 and R3 coming out in...

No, I got it. I don't think you understand what I'm doing.

A 15T front is a 6.67% difference. 15/36 is an 11.58% difference. 15/37 is 9.12%, so it almost perfectly corrects my speedometer.
