2011 CBR250R MPG (best?)
Any guesses on what the highest MPG will be and what the lowest will be?
I read somewhere in the 50s was achieved but that seems low. They must've beat on it pretty hard. My R1 can get 42 mpg when I nurse it.

On my gixxer i got around 35-50 mpg with the way i use to ride so anything better is a win for me.

Update: A rider in Thailand says he is getting 350km per tank full, so that equals about 65 mpg.

I've gone through 4 tanks now.
it's impossible to get to 300 let alone 350.
i've tried going slow as slow. and thrashing it.
havnt gotten past 280km with the 13L.
which is about 60mpg
my last bar's started blinking always between 230 and 240km.

I've been getting in the mid to high 60s when commuting. This last weekend I took it out for an afternoon ride for the first time. 1 tank was spent at freeway and highway speeds with very few stops. I was surprised that I got an astounding 82 mpg from that tank.. The stop and go on the commute must really be burning up the gas !
my worst tank was 56.3, my best was 79.2....thats a 67.6 average
I like to ride hard. The first trip, while breaking it in, i got around 80 babying it, but this last trip, i got around 60.
I kept track of fuel for the first 1000 miles and it looks like overall average is near 69 mpg for me(68.8). I hope it gets a little better with time I was hoping to break 70-75 mpg. Still very happy.
I've been getting 73, but I weight 150 pounds and I tuck.
If I take a long Interstate trip (speeds ~70-75mph) I get in the middle 60's. For commuting (18 miles, max speed ~60mph, usually average ~50mph) I average a consistent 75mpg.
When commuting, I usually shift between 5000 and 6000 rpm, and pull in the clutch and coast when stopping. I do very little engine braking - been driving manual trannies for a long time and brake pads are cheaper than drivetrain parts.
Panamera, I don't know the answer to your question. If it's a US bike, I'd say check the air filter and the tire pressure. When you ride, practice smoothness - remember that every time you apply the brakes, you're wasting momentum. No, that doesn't mean you never brake - but if there's a stoplight I usually pull in the clutch a couple hundred feet back so that I don't need much brakes to stop. I get off the gas before turns and add it back in as I lean, rather than accelerating all the way to the curve and using the brakes to set my entry speed. Large throttle openings and hard braking are natural-born enemies to fuel economy.
Last but not least, occasionally I remember that 65mph on the CBR is loads more fun and still twice what my Civic gets, so I don't let it bother me a whole lot....
One more thing.... My other two-wheeled contrapion is a bicycle - there's no better tool in the world to teach conservation of momentum...

Panamera -- Maybe you could try resetting the ECU and see if the initial mapping is to blame. With all the different styles that you have tried, the mapping may just be too mucked up to give you the great millage that the rest of us are seeing.
I run through the gears about as fast as I can, taking each up to 9-9.5K and regularly drive at 70+ mph and still average 65 mpg.

Well believe it or not checked it last weekend. Wife was riding it not me but got 82 mpg.
