Numbers

What are your miles and gallons? Maybe you are just figuring something wrong. Go to the same pump every time, sit on the bike while filling to keep it level, fill slowly at the end until the fuel just washes over the fill plate. Write down the mileage and gallons and divide. There is no way to guess the fuel that is used from looking at the fuel gauge bars.

seriously how do you guys get 60-70? and even 80 ?

its just NOT POSSIBLE.

i've done 6 tanks now.

no matter if i ride slow, or hard, or in the city or in the motorway.

i get exactly 50mpg.
or about 280km.

but then when i fill up i can never get 6 bars even when i fill to the max

Spirit of hypermiling

85.25 for the last 260 miles. Last fill was 156.4 miles on 1.289 gallons of fuel (US). Average speed was about 35-38 MPH with mild hypermiling techniques. Working on a comfortable tuck position which should help increase mileage. Hoping to get close to a 90 average when the bike gets some more miles on it
That's the spirit. At 40mph, laying on the tank with the windscreen passing the wind just under the chin is very efficient and comfortable. It is only at higher speeds that it is necessary to try to get under the screen to keep the higher fuel economy.

Insight

When I first came to this forum sendler, I found your posts to most closely mirror my own observations. I have a local route that is almost exactly 40 miles round trip with something like 46 traffic lights. In my CVT 2002 Insight I could never quite break 80 MPG on that local route. I think on the CBR I could manage 90 MPG, maybe even a little better if I worked as hard as I did with the Insight. I also read you had an Insight as well.

Looking forward to more good info as you ride your CBR considerably more than I do mine.

regards
Badger
I can't get any where near 80 in my insight as I am all highway at 70 mph. My best tank was 69 mpg US and my lifetime is around 62 but three months of the year I am slogging through slush which knocks me down to 56 mpg. The CBR250R is the first real highway ready motorcycle sold in the US that can finally beat my car so I bought the first one in town.
