What are your miles and gallons? Maybe you are just figuring something wrong. Go to the same pump every time, sit on the bike while filling to keep it level, fill slowly at the end until the fuel just washes over the fill plate. Write down the mileage and gallons and divide. There is no way to guess the fuel that is used from looking at the fuel gauge bars.

seriously how do you guys get 60-70? and even 80 ?

its just NOT POSSIBLE.

i've done 6 tanks now.

no matter if i ride slow, or hard, or in the city or in the motorway.

i get exactly 50mpg.
or about 280km.

but then when i fill up i can never get 6 bars even when i fill to the max

That is strange. just picked up my bike a week ago and had to ride it back home which is 425 kms away. Filled up the tank (...yes 6 bars) and managed to reach home just as the last bar started flashing. That would make it 77 mpg but that's just my first run. Didn't thrash it but didn't baby it either. Will run it about town and see how that works out.

Most recent fill netted me exactly 77 MPG (US gallon). Using Amsoil 10-40 and Yoshimura slip-on. On my 49 mi. round trip commute, I have a combination of very long traffic lights and a 9 mi. stretch of 45~65 mph, depending upon traffic in SW Florida.

What's your weight, dude?
It is extremely strange!
i weight about 65kg? 130ish pounds?

i wouldnt say i'm heavy.
and i get this amount whether i thrash it. or ride it nice and slow.

i was told for the first few hundred k's to ride and cruise at 6-7k RPM so the engine wont be under powered while its adjusting.

but now i just cruise at about 4-5k RPM.

i dont know.

also i fill my tank to the brim full. i dont get full 6 bars

You weight less than me...
how many litres do you usually fill with?

I filled two times with 12 (to the cap) and got six bars (the sixth for about 50kms).

Do you fill while standing on the kickstand or with yourself on the seat?
I know it's more difficult but you can insist a lot if you fill little by little.
I think until you won't get the sixth bar you won't be able to pass 300 kms!

65-75

I'm personally getting between 65-75 mpg's depending on how hard i decide to push her that week. I'm almost certain your weight has very little to do with it because i'm 6'1" ~300lbs and i get fantastic fuel efficiency.

At between 60 and 70 mph I get between 83 and 90 mpg (British gals)
My last ride which was 200mls of fast Scottish roads gave me 18.6 mls/litre.
Cant fault it,except for the hard seat !
Get over that with wearing padded cycle shorts !!!

I think the same, probably it's only a matter of how much gas he's putting in the tank since is not getting the sixth bar

hmm you are right.
i filled it up sitting on the bike, also filling way past up the neck and got up to where the seals for the filler cap go. then it went down, then i put more in, then it went down. i got about 2L more in it.

got my 6th bar for about 40k's.

that's 40k's more than my 280km so i guess i will make it past 300 after all. will post how far i go and what mpg when this tank is done

85.25 for the last 260 miles. Last fill was 156.4 miles on 1.289 gallons of fuel (US). Average speed was about 35-38 MPH with mild hypermiling techniques. Working on a comfortable tuck position which should help increase mileage. Hoping to get close to a 90 average when the bike gets some more miles on it, currently just over 1000. I fill until the fuel is just above the front half of the ring with the nozzle sized hole, standing the bike up straight between my legs.

6'1" 210 pounds, 60 years old.

Spirit of hypermiling

That's the spirit. At 40mph, laying on the tank with the windscreen passing the wind just under the chin is very efficient and comfortable. It is only at higher speeds that it is necessary to try to get under the screen to keep the higher fuel economy.

I've gone through 4 tanks now.
it's impossible to get to 300 let alone 350.
i've tried going slow as slow. and thrashing it.
havnt gotten past 280km with the 13L.
which is about 60mpg

my last bar's started blinking always between 230 and 240km.
Get your bike checked asap. Something seriously wrong. I get at least 30KM/L (390KM/tank) and best is 47KM/L on the freeway (611KM/tank). I do ride gently and coast a lot with the clutch in, etc.
