When I first came to this forum sendler, I found your posts to most closely mirror my own observations. I have a local route that is almost exactly 40 miles round trip with something like 46 traffic lights. In my CVT 2002 Insight I could never quite break 80 MPG on that local route. I think on the CBR I could manage 90 MPG, maybe even a little better if I worked as hard as I did with the Insight. I also read you had an Insight as well. That's the spirit. At 40mph, laying on the tank with the windscreen passing the wind just under the chin is very efficient and comfortable. It is only at higher speeds that it is necessary to try to get under the screen to keep the higher fuel economy.
I can't get any where near 80 in my insight as I am all highway at 70 mph. My best tank was 69 mpg US and my lifetime is around 62 but three months of the year I am slogging through slush which knocks me down to 56 mpg. The CBR250R is the first real highway ready motorcycle sold in the US that can finally beat my car so I bought the first one in town. When I first came to this forum sendler, I found your posts to most closely mirror my own observations. Looking forward to more good info as you ride your CBR considerably more than I do mine.

hwy driving nets me aroung 60mpg...country road riding or slow city riding gives me on average 74mpg....I have 4 thousand miles logged so far...sound like we are just about on the same page average wiseTry 59 mpg going 75mph roughly hitting 7500rpm . The best part im 250#. btw in city driing im avg 76mpg. Impressive milege so far ive logged 1000 miles on the bike in 2 months.
Tuck?On a 3200KM (2000 mile) camping/touring adventure on the CBR250R last year I consistently obtained 81 mpg (68 mpg U.S.) fully loaded with saddlebags, tailbag, and tankbag at a steady 65 mph on the highway in 6th gear.
This Fall I wanted to see how economical the CBR250R would be riding at around 65km/hr (40 mph) in 5th gear along some rural roadways. I obtained 105 mpg (88 mpg U.S.) under those conditions.
I am very happy with this fuel efficiency. Hard to imagine a bike that strikes a better balance of fun and fuel efficiency.
Now - off to shovel 6" of snow. I have about a foot of the white stuff in my yard now. At least the temps are agreeable - hovering close to freezing right now....
