I'm installing an aftermarket speedo on my 2012 cbr250r, and I'm having issues locating the signal speed wire (for the tach) and the wires for the speed sensor to get the speedometer readings, any help is appreciated, thanks :)

I'm installing an aftermarket speedo on my 2012 cbr250r,
Welcome to the forum.
Where did you purchase the combination-meter from? Do you have a photo of it? What was wrong with the original combination-meter? Because maybe the problem is not with the device?
In principle the connector should fit, and the pin positions must remain the same positions pin to pin.
and I'm having issues locating the signal speed wire (for the tach)
I have no previous experience in locating this type of fault. I hope I am not misleading you.
The RPM meter(tacho) and the speedometer are powered by two different sensors.
  • The tachometer receives a signal from the computer (ECM). In my understanding after interpolation on the electrical signal that comes from the CKP sensor.
And yes the signal goes through the Yellow-Green wire
  • The speedometer receives a signal directly from the VS speed sensor. That sensor fixed into the gearbox near the output shaft.
The signal goes through three wires:
    • SP EARTH Bl/G
    • SP SENS R/Bl
    • SP SIG W/R

Thank you, this helped me wiring up the Speedo and now it works, I'm using a universal digital gauge off Amazon, as seen here. https://www.amazon.ca/DK-MOTOR-SM-0...ocphy=9001111&hvtargid=pla-827332502313&psc=1
The reason I replaced it is simply because the bike has a street fighter conversion so the OEM combination meter doesn't fit right and I can't find a good way to mount it in a good spot.
All functions on the new aftermarket gauge work perfectly, other than the tachometer, I've connected the Y/G wire to the correct wire on my gauge, but nothing shows up on the tach, ive used a spare battery to test the tach itself, and it moves up and down with a voltage. I've also used a test light on the Y/G wire and nothing shows up. I'll post pictures soon

Very nice instrument "panel" (y)
Watch Speedometer Gauge Vehicle Clock

I understand that two elements are missing there:
  • An engine thermometer, and...
  • An FI service light (For DTC CODE)
Is it so?
On the other hand, you have a gear detector (but this is not relevant to our model).
I've also used a test light on the Y/G wire and nothing shows up.
I don't know what electrical signal goes through the Yellow-Red wire, I'm pretty sure it's not a signal suitable for measuring it with a normal test light.
BUT
I looked at the product specifications (according to the LINK you left us), and it seems to me that you need to install some kind of magnet on the front disc (The magnet is marked in the pictures below with a letter "B"). It's look like your spedometr needs an indication from the wire that goes out from "A" sensor. Am I right?
And according to the pictures I attached below, you have at your kit both the connector "D", and the holder/adapter "C".
AND Maybe you also need some procedure to calibrate the spedometer, check the instructions you received with the device.

If I understood correctly from yours pictures, then you have given up the connector, you are wired the NEW meter without a connector? Way?

I don't know what you are measuring right now. For the speedometer you need to attach the magnet and detector to the front wheel. As I explained above, but maybe I'm wrong?

It is reading properly according to my phone with a GPS app, I wired the aftermarket gauge to the stock speed sensor on the bike since I didn't want to use the magnet for no reason, and that part works.
I don't think that the magnet could have anything to do with engine speed as it's on the wheel. But maybe there's a signal with or something I missed. From what I've seen the tach works on a basis of just that one Y/G wire. I might try hooking up the magnet to see if it has any difference
And yes the guages is missing and fi light and engine thermometer, I have three extra wires coming out of the bike, the fi, thermometer, and also the position but I'll figure those out once I get the main components working fully.

I didn't mean to create confusion, if the reading of the speed is correct and accurate, then like you wrote there is no need to install the external speed sensor (on the disk with the magnet, it is not necessary according to what you describe).
I'm guessing, maybe what the tachometer is missing is a ground connection?

Maybe you try to bring the other functions to action, the high light sensor bulb, etc... maybe one of them has a common ground with the RPM meter?
