Anyone ride one of these? At first the weight seems outputting but it's not outrageous for a cruiser and the whole center of gravity is several inches lower than a CBR. I might have considered earlier models but they were carburated until the 2012 model year; sometimes my bike isn't ridden for a few weeks. I have no experience with shaft driven bikes but not having to mess with a chain seems like an advantage and I would think delivery of power would be smoother with no potential for lash. Power to weight ratio is a significant step up from a CBR without being more power that I would ever use and being a V-twin it has greater range in the gears but still advertises 56 mpg US.

I'm partial to the Shadow RS. I like its seating position better. Everyone I have known who owns or owned a Honda 750 of recent vintage has loved them.

Buddy of mine rides a Shadow 750, I ought to take it for a spin sometime. He likes everything about his bike except for the fact it's not a sport bike. :)

Thanks all.
The Nighthawk 750 that I finally gave up was cold natured (and I live at the bottom of a steep hill), 480 pounds dry and had a seat height of 31" and a fairly high center of gravity being an inline 4. I ride windy mountain backroads where campers come around corners taking up 2/3 of a one lane road so it just wasn't quite the right bike. Fuel injection and all the weight sprung lower might just work for me. I'm not really that price conscious; just want the best ride for my purposes (and one that's trouble free - that was one thing I liked about the Nighthawk; it even had self adjusting valves). I'll chew on it till end of riding season when the shops discount their 12's.

My first ride is a Yamaha VStar 950. It has a very low center of gravity and an extremely low seat height. I am only 5'4", so this was important to me. I have been riding just short of two years and LOVE my 950. I have 8500 miles on it since September of 2010.

I just bought a CBR to get a different thrill.

I especially liked the 2011 Shadow RS? Same color scheme as my tri color CBR. I also like the more upright seating position and reminds me of the old flat trackers - one thing that really turned me off though was the tiny gas tank, I'd be filing up every day.

for what its worth. i had the black spirit which has the blackout chrome and semi drag bars where the spirit is has more traditional bars and also thinner front tyre
(the spirit is better than the black spirit for handling) will cruise at 90mph getting 55mph - 3 gallon tank.

it's a cruiser so it does what it says on the tin. laid back handling, cornering, braking and accelerating. no hassle biking totaly reliable about 65nm toreque and 45 bhp from memory. ask all the question you can think of on hsocuk.com lovely bunch of people.

the cbr 250r is much more fun to ride though but the hole saw makes the exhaust sound a treat
