ive seen the other post on here about wrapping vs painting,but ive read that it can damage the paint underneath.so that if your going to wrap something,try and make it something u would wrap permanently..

Why not just paint it then? Others have painted theirs successfully. Apparently it is quick and easy.

The cover doesn't get hot. It's well away from the actual exhaust.

I painted mine black about 8000km ago and it's still great, besides a few scratches from the flowerbeds.

I had rhino liner coated on mine. =) I love the texture it gave. I have pics posted on my profile if you'd like to take a look, but I think the wrapping would be just fine, too. =)

Exhaust cover might not take the heat, you can melt the stuff fair easy when applying it.

other parts should be fine

from the 1st time i get my hand on my bike from the dealer, immediately i cover my bike with a vinyl protect-wrapping (almost as good as 3M product). Cause from my experience with my previous bike, the paint can be faded overtime and it look bad.
That's why i coated my bike with protective-layer vinyl, with hope to make sure the paint isn't easy to wear off.

for me honestly, paint the bike isn't the best option. i like the original paint, except if i want to change or give an accent to the bike through color then i chose vinyl decal. it's not gonna change the bike paint color.

i checked my exhaust cover and it actually doesnt get hot.so i think its going to be fine to vinyl wrap.

also i was told that even if i have some vinyl wrapping experience that im still guaranteed to mess up vinyl wrapping a car,sounds like BS.

I have a friend that works at PRO-CAL and he got me some vinyl he had laying around, the black is 3M controltac the red was AVERY but it didn`t match, just wanted to see how it would look. The silver pieces I`m gonna have painted.

heat shield

Your bikes look great.

I managed to scratch my heat shield up a bit so I was thinking of painting it a flat black or wrapping it with 3m flat black wrap (like a few of you on this site have). I spoke to the Honda dealership and they don't recommend doing either because of the heat and to purchase a new heat shield (the larger section) would be $150 Canadian (plus taxes - 13%).

Realistically, how hot would the "silver" part of the heat shield get?

My hasn't been warm at all. Isn't that the whole point of it? It's a "shield" from the heat so if you have a passanger they don't burn their leg?

yes it does,i ordered some 3m matte black vinyl last night!

I would just say paint it but if you want i suggest using the 3M Di-noc it seem to be more of a heavy duty product it quiet,thick and should last quiet long.!
